Little and few have negative meaning. They both mean small number and not enough. Few is used with countable nouns. Little is used with uncountable nouns.

e.g.: Few members of the audience disliked the play. I have little patience in dealing with my pesky little brother.

A little and a few have more positive meaning.

e.g.: A few more miles and we are there! A little more salt is needed to improve the taste.
