ACS style prefers to indicate a work in press clearly.  The reference citations consists of author, title, and journal abbreviation, phrase indicating state of publication.

For example,

Author, Title. Journal Abbreviation, phrase indicating stage of publication.

Kim, U. Nutritive Values of Foods. Adv. Food Sci. Nutr., in press.
