Depending on your topic, the information in older sources might not be as accurate as what can be found in more recent resources. It's possible that new information about your topic has been discovered recently, or what was once believed about the topic is now known to be incorrect. For example, an article written about the Internet in 1995 is not going to be as accurate as one written in 2015.
