It is similar to subheadings.  You need to present the chapter number first, a period, and figure number.

For example,
fig. 1.1  (if this figure displays chapter 1)
fig. 3.1 (if this figure displays chapter 3, the number starts 3)
table 1.1
table 2.1
table 2.2
