Question marks usually follow interrogative sentences. If a question mark appears in a quoted passage, place the question mark inside a closing quotation mark. But if the quotation ends a sentence with a question, place a question mark outside the quotation.
Commas or periods can be omitted if the question mark occurs where the comma or period would normally be required.
